Chickadee PT Services
Sports & Performance
Don’t let pain be the limiting factor to participating in the activities that you enjoy most. From rugby to running, skiing to soccer, sport related injuries are expected if you expect to perform at a high level. Resilience in the face of injury is important for consistent training. Let us help you build a robust program to keep you in the game.
Our physical therapists will analyze the movements involved in your chosen sport, and develop a plan for improved performance and decreased mechanical stress that may result in injury. As athletes ourselves we understand how frustrating it is to receive the advice to ‘just rest’. We believe that many injuries result from under stressed tissue, and In most circumstances participation in your sport can be a valuable part of rehabilitation.

Pelvic Floor

The pelvic floor is a unique sling of muscles and connective tissue at the base of the pelvis that supports the pelvic organs and allows bladder and bowel control. Pelvic floor issues such as incontinence, pain, and pelvic organ prolapse are common, and extremely under-treated. Although these problems are common, these symptoms are not normal and can be addressed with pelvic floor physical therapy.
Our physical therapists have advanced education in pelvic floor treatment to assist in your recovery from pelvic floor dysfunction. The Chickadee PT team performs a global assessment to determine how your pelvic floor, musculoskeletal system, breath, and life demands all contribute to your symptoms. Our team aims to help you not only alleviate pelvic symptoms, but return to high-level activities and meet your goals.

Using hands-on techniques, corrective exercises, and strength training, our physical therapists will help you prepare for the physical challenges of your passions, pursuits, and parts of your life that make you, you.

Vestibular

Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialized form of physical therapy that alleviates symptoms and impairments caused by inner ear problems. The inner ear, or vestibular system, is in charge of assisting in orientation, balance, and vision, and a variety of problems can interfere with normal vestibular function. Examples of vestibular dysfunction include vertigo, post-concussion syndrome, balance problems, and migraines. 70% of falls are related to undetected vestibular impairments.
Our physical therapists are trained in performing holistic examinations to determine what aspects of the vestibular system are dysfunctioning, so they can assist in resolving vertigo, improving postural stability, and improving balance. This exercise and movement-based treatment helps individuals overcome dizziness and related issues, including nausea, lightheadedness, imbalance, oscillopsia (visual blurring) and motion sensitivity.
